June 27th.

Two weeks into being back in Carlingford and all is well on the Denise front. Our visit to the RPA last Wednesday was a resounding success in that Denise's blood results are normal.

Denise is becoming more active each day but is still very tired and often becomes depressed by her lack of stamina. Y'all know how prone she is to pushing herself to the limit so I don't have to go into details.

I replaced her phone with a new Nokia that is using her old number. Please send her an SMS with your name and phone number so she can add you to her address book on the Nokia. Thanks.

June 15th.

Denise has taken up residence in Carlingford again. In other words, she came home yesterday or to be  even clearer, I picked her up and brought her back to where she belongs on June 14th.

She is still quite tired and has some recovering to go through so please don't call her - she will call y'all when she feels up to it. There's another reason: the Nokia she has is older than dirt and like the parrot, is dead. At last! I've been trying to get her to upgrade it for a couple of years, to no avail. She is using an old iPhone of mine (under duress) and has a new prepaid number. Little does she know it, but I am going to get her a new Nokia and transfer her old mobile number tomorrow. Just as an aside, presenting her with my old iPhone as a temporary solution went over like a lead balloon. You know the Denise tune - I don't want to learn how to use another phone cos I like my old phone. Telling her that her old phone has had the sword just added fuel to the fire of her ire. She might have lost all of your numbers. I will let you know.

Denise is well and very happy to be home.

June 6th.

OK, here is the latest:
When I saw Denise on Friday evening she was doing pretty well. That changed on Saturday - not dramatically but enough for the doctor in the unit to consider moving her back to ICU. Denise's blood pressure began dropping and got way down to the point where 3 nurses checked it because they could not believe the readings. Her temperature also dropped and the staff were quite concerned. Some blood cultures were run, she was wrapped in a space blanket and a bag of Compound Sodium Lactate (aka Hartmann's Solution) put up.   Hartmann's Solution has several uses - follow the link.

On Sunday everything was heading in the right direction and Denise was kept on the L7 ward. Her BP was OK and her temperature normal. She remained cocooned in the space blanket but when I left after her obs were done at 16:00, she was told that if she was uncomfortable in her cocoon she could break out of it and lie wild and free.

Today she is a lot better. BP and temperature are normal. She did a lap of the hallway without the walking frame and is ready to take on the next thing that this freakin transplant process throws at her.

I think the Mohawk suits her.
